This is why the world’s five largest companies by market capitalization and the top five most valuable brands globally (according to BrandZ Top 100 Global Brands 2017) are platform-based. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook take the top places in this year’s ranking and combined are worth 25 percent of the total value of the Top 100.
